It was certainly touch and go. They ask us, once we are far enough along in our sobriety, to tell our story at places like the Wheelhouse (a homeless man's rehab, New Hope is it's sister where women recover). Or The 24 hour club where people are allowed to stay for around 10 days off the street while they formulate a better plan. Both have a rule where you stay on their couch for a length of time to show you "want it" guys will feed you a snack or talk to you...but no one is going to learn your name if you can't sit on a couch for a while with no promises.

In that way you earn a bed and your next meal. If you do it just right and have luck you can earn your whole life back. Most don't but...guys with sobriety still go to meetings at those places (I already do sometimes) and will help any way we can.
